How to prep your home for a cleaning
Six quick things to do before your cleaner arrives so the visit goes smoothly and you get the most value from your booking. Total prep time: about 15 minutes.
- Pick up clutter from floors and surfaces. Clear clutter off floors, counters, and tables so your cleaner can clean the surface itself instead of moving stacks of items. Books, mail, laundry, and dishes should be put away. Typically 10-15 minutes.
- Identify any surfaces you don't want touched. Leave a note or text your cleaner about any antiques, electronics, instruments, or fragile items you'd prefer they skip. If a child or pet has a specific space (a crib, a hamster cage area), flag that too.
- Secure pets and let your cleaner know about them. If you have dogs or cats, either confine them to one room or let the team know they're loose. Most cleaners are pet-friendly; we just need to know in advance so the team can plan.
- Make sure your cleaner can get inside. If you won't be home, share the gate code, garage code, or lockbox combination in advance via the booking confirmation. Most clients give us a permanent access code so future cleans run on autopilot.
